講談社は新刊とともに、電子版もヒットを期待する。…新刊は上下それぞれ1995円（税込み）。２冊に分けて販売するのは「我々が把握している範囲では日本のみ」（講談社）という。電子書籍版は「紙とほぼ同額にする」（渡瀬氏）と強気だ。新刊の上巻の発売日は24日、下巻は11月１日にずれ込むが、電子版も上下刊の発売日に合わせて２段階で配信する。

うーん。本当に売る気あるのかね、講談社は。いきなり日経の報道の事実が間違っているよ。冒頭にあるのは、ジョブズが、Timesの記事のインタビューとして、Timeの記者とアイザックソンと一緒にマンハッタンで昼食をとったときに、発売されたばかりの自分のMacintoshを子供っぽく大げさに自画自賛する場面なんだが。別に「売り込み」に「タイム・ワーナーのビルに訪れるシーン」なんて書かれていないんだが。

あと講談社が電子書籍なのに、上下に分けて(！)発売日もずらして（!
)価格もハードカバーと同じ(！)にするというのは、どんなに日本人を舐めているのだろかと思わざるを得ないよな。電子書籍でもKindleの原作だと900円台という価格に対して、講談社版が4000円弱だから、英語ができないというハンデに対するプレミアムが3000円で、さらに電子書籍を分冊されるということだね。

今までの日本のスタンダードからすると、ハードカバーが2000円程度で、フォントを大きくして行間空けて分冊ににするというのは、村上春樹などの文芸書では常道ではある。しかし、こういう世界同時発売で価格が白日の下に晒されると、リンガ・フランカとしての英語ができないことへのプレミアムがここまでの価格になるのかが明らかになったね。

スキルがないとかリテラシーがないとかバカであるというのは金を余計に払わなければいけないということなんだよ。若い人はこれを機会にして、この程度の本は原書で読めるようになったほうがいいよ。
